It isnt always about the amount of time but the quality
When training, it is the little things that can make the horse or "break" the horse. It isnt all ways about having ALOT of time. It is about making the time count. Doing simple little things daily can make improvements in the horse and your relationship. . . . . . . . So you want your relationship to change for the better? Make the investment in a moment, . . that just might open both your eyes.

Lessons learned on the trail . . .
are some times hard to take. I have MANY riding pet peves. One being watching a rider trying to get on as the horse is walking off. Another is adding MORE equipment to to "fix" a problem horse. AND ANOTHER, is riding with people that have NO control of their horses mind or body.
The people that are on a group ride and complain of "other" riders causing their horse to act up because everyone isnt riding nose to tail. If you have control of your horse, how I ride should NOT affect your ride.
As long as you maintain trail etiquette, "passing on your left/right", No running off in front, through or next to other horses. (running/trotting/loping BEHIND the group is acceptable as long as you DO NOT run UP on the group or other horses) and LEAVE AT LEAST a horse length between riders. NO RUNNING up hills past or into other riders.
Riding in a group is similar to driving. Watch the other riders and know who to avoid.
Defensive Riding! (which means YOU have to be in control)

"Rumor has it"
We had a unplanned pregnancy here at cr Arabian Dreams. Dam is "Charlie" my sons favorite mount. and the Sire is to be named at a future date pending DNA testing. It is a toss up between Justice and Calvin. My son is calling the foal (its a Girl) Mocha, and I call her Rumor. Even though we did not intend on breeding last year it has been great fun to have a new one arrive. My son is amped up and in love with this new little girl. She is a liver chestnut with 3whites and a blaze. We love getting our hands on them this young! They are soo cute and sweet. My son says he is going to train her. Tee hee, he is going to have his hands full. Life cant get any better :)

Having to work to do the work I love.
I would love to ride and work with the horses more than I do, but I have 3 other jobs, 4 if you include the horses.
Monday; I work at the locker then come home and have lessons (weather permiting)
Tuesday; I work at my grooming shop, then home to work with the horses.
Wednesday; I work at the locker, home for lessons (weather permiting) and work with the horses.
Thursday; I work at my grooming shop, home to work with the horses.
Friday; I go to Omaha to work, come home and work with the horses.
Saturday; I try to ride and give the horses I worked with durring the week the weekend off.
Sunday; I go get and haul hay, then try to get more riding in.
And that is just a break down of my "little" jobs. In between all of that I still have my son to spend time with, and try to raise the best I can. And maintain a somewhat clean house.
I am very blessed to have a full and hectic life.

Ground work, . . or riding . . .
When you have alot of young horses that need ground work it makes it hard to find even MORE extra time to ride the ones that are old enough and trained. But I would not trade it for anything.
Went camping and riding this weekend, only 7.34 mi. though.
It rained off and on most of the morning Saturday.
Brought Radar home from getting bred again. (Cross your fingers it takes this time.)

When you cant sleep and cleaning just isnt going to happen, . .
You go for a night ride, the sky was beautiful and so was the weather! There was plenty of moon light to light our way to town. I personaly LOVE riding at night.

Something is better than nothing
I have never "bloged" before so this will be the first "something"
I have not rode all week because of working all of my young stock. If I could only log the training miles, . . . . .
But my horses would not be very good without their ground work. Which is VERY important.
I am thinking this may be a way for me to keep a written record of each horse and its training. . .
I just may hook the garmin to the horses when I start the ground work to see just how many miles I put on them in training before they are ever rode.
